Privacy Policy
Dryspan for Android (app.dryspan.forecast) · Last updated 4 November 2026
This policy explains what information the Dryspan app collects, why, and what choices you have. Dryspan has no user accounts and does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Location and your places
Dryspan needs a place to show a forecast. You can search for a place by name or, if you allow it, use your device's approximate location while the app is open. The app never asks for background or precise location.
- Your saved places and settings are stored only on your device. Android cloud backup is turned off for the app.
- To load a forecast, the coordinates of the place, rounded to about 10 meters, are sent to the MET Norway forecast service (api.met.no). No other information about you is sent with them. See the MET Norway privacy statement.
- Place names you type in search are sent to your device's built-in geocoding service (provided by Google on most Android devices) to find matching places.
- Coordinates are not shared with advertising services.
Notifications
If you turn on the morning summary, the app schedules it on your device and shows a notification with the forecast for a saved place. You can turn it off in the app or in Android settings.
Information collected by third-party services
The app uses Google services for advertising, analytics and crash reports. They collect some information automatically:
| Service | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising ID, device and app information, approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions | Showing ads, measuring ads, preventing fraud |
| Google User Messaging Platform | Your consent choices | Asking for and storing consent where the law requires it |
| Firebase Analytics | App interactions (for example, screens opened), app instance ID, device information | Understanding how the app is used and improving it |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash logs, diagnostic and device information | Finding and fixing crashes |
This information is sent over an encrypted connection. It is processed by Google under its own terms: see Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Consent and your choices
- If you are in a region where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Ad consent.
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your Android settings (Google → Ads, or Privacy → Ads).
- You can deny or revoke location permission at any time and use place search instead.
- You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the app.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers listed above, for the purposes listed above, or when required by law.
Data retention and deletion
Data collected by Google services is kept according to Google's retention settings (analytics data for up to 14 months). Because the app has no accounts, we cannot link this data to you; to request deletion of data associated with your device, write to the address below and we will forward your request to Google where possible. Uninstalling the app deletes your saved places and settings.
Children
Dryspan is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
